Protection against break-in
For the causal thief, breaking into a home protected by an EcoStar window or door, might prove to be just as difficult as a home protected by an elaborate, video-monitored security system. We know that’s a bold statement, but it’s true. Studies indicate that most thieves will move on if they cannot gain entry into a dwelling within 30 to 90 seconds. Our products have been tested for entry and break in by National Certified Testing Laboratories in Miami Florida. They’ve found that even when using crowbars and power tools, in their tests ranging from one-minute to five minutes, entry could not be gained into our products. Once you understand how they’re built, it’s easy to understand how this is possible.
Simply put, our products are tough because of the design and materials we use to build them. Our sashes are engineered to fill an opening. That is, there aren’t any obvious gaps or places where a screwdriver or pry bar could easily be inserted. That’s aggravating for a thief. If they try to push in or ram one of our windows or doors, they’ll probably just hurt their shoulder. That’s because the frames and sashes of our products are built with steel-reinforced UPVC. UPVC is a tough plastic, and at the thickness we use, it’s nearly unbreakable. But, once steel reinforcement is added, it becomes a formidable barrier to all but the most determined criminals. These tough windows and doors frames are anchored in place by our multi-point locking system. Most windows and doors use one or two locking points at the most. Our products use a minimum of six locking points on every window and door. Many of our larger doors and windows can have eight or twelve.
